About WLCN:

Who we are:

The Whole Life Carbon Network (WLCN) is a network of architects, academics, engineers, contractors, local authority members, and other professionals from across Europe who wish to promote consistent and robust whole life carbon assessment and reporting within the built environment. The network was initiated as an email chat group in 2019 to share and discuss whole life carbon assessment issues specific to the built environment. We share guidance, our experience and questions within the group to help each other and build up competency. In addition, we contribute to a wide range of industry working groups to develop consensus-driven and expert guidance on the topic.

Members of the WLCN have authored or contributed to the following:

  • RICS – Whole Life carbon Assessment for the Built Environment 2017 (Upgrade in 2022)
